Mounjaro® is a type of medicine called GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist. In adults with type 2 diabetes, it helps improve blood sugar control. In adults who are overweight or have obesity, it is used for weight management, including weight loss and weight maintenance.
Mounjaro® works by activating two hormone receptors, GIP and GLP-1, that are involved in hunger, fullness, and how the body processes food. This dual action helps reduce appetite, supports feelings of fullness, and can lead to meaningful weight loss.
Mounjaro® typically starts at 2.5mg weekly for the first four weeks and may gradually increase to a maximum dose of 15mg weekly if needed. This step-up approach helps minimise side effects and allows your body to adjust. Prices may vary across dosages.
